SUMMRY:
The review article considers the most important issues of mass group and individual prevention of iodine-related diseases. As the main means of mass iodine prophylaxis, the use of food iodized salt is recommended. The issues of safety of mass iodine prophylaxis and possible negative consequences of excessive iodine use due to inadequate prevention are considered. The efficiency of mass iodine prophylaxis by universal iodization of food salt is emphasized. The conclusion is made on the need for a legislative solution to the prevention of iodine-dependent diseases in Ukraine.
