Author Guidelines

The scientific journal Environment & Health welcomes original research articles, review articles, and analytical papers in Ukrainian or English. All manuscripts must be submitted through Open Journal Systems (OJS).

At INITIAL submission, authors upload only TWO documents: (1) a single manuscript file containing all author details and CRediT contributions, and (2) a Cover Letter.

How to Submit a Manuscript

Step 1. Check Alignment with the Journal’s Aims and Scope

Ensure that the work demonstrates a scientifically substantiated connection to environmental factors and population health, public or occupational health, hygiene, epidemiology, preventive medicine, or health risk assessment.

Step 2. Review the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Read the requirements for manuscript structure, academic writing, tables, figures, author information, declarations, and references.

Important: Each manuscript must contain only one REFERENCES list, written in the Latin alphabet and formatted in Vancouver style. A separate reference list following DSTU 8302:2015 must not be submitted.

Step 3. Download and Complete Two Documents

File 1. Manuscript – select EITHER the Original Research Manuscript template OR the Review and Analytical Article Manuscript template. Include within this same file the UDC number, bilingual titles and abstracts, the names of all authors (in Ukrainian and English), affiliations, academic positions, ORCID iDs, email addresses, Corresponding Author details, CRediT contributions, main scientific text, tables, figures, required declarations, and REFERENCES.

File 2. Cover Letter – briefly explain the study's novelty and alignment with the journal's scope; confirm originality, approval by all authors, and any preprints or related publications, where applicable.

Authors must NOT submit a separate Title Page or a separate anonymized manuscript. Supplementary information should, where feasible, be placed in the manuscript as appendices; the editorial office may request additional materials later.

Step 4. Submit Through OJS

1. Register – https://dovkil-zdorov.kiev.ua/journal/uk/user/register – or sign in.

2. Start a new submission and select the relevant journal section.

3. Upload TWO documents: the manuscript and Cover Letter.

4. Enter complete article metadata in Ukrainian and English, including all authors.

5. Confirm compliance with the journal's policies and complete the submission.

Step 5. Track the Editorial Process

Manuscript status updates and editorial correspondence are available in your OJS account. Following a Minor Revision or Major Revision decision, submit a revised manuscript and a point-by-point Response to Reviewers. This response document is NOT part of the initial submission package.

Editorial Assessment and Confidentiality

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts meeting the journal's scope and essential requirements proceed to independent external peer review. To maintain double-blind peer review, editorial staff prepare an anonymized reviewer copy by removing author information and identifying metadata. Reviewers do not receive the original manuscript file containing author details.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Article processing charges are payable only after final acceptance and do not influence scientific assessment.
